Where WMPA gets its power

WMPA members rely on power from three main sources: Loveland Area Project (LAP), Colorado River Storage Project (CRSP) and Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC).

Power sources FY 22

Both the Loveland Area Project and Colorado River Storage Project are part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Western Area Power Administration (WAPA), which sells and delivers hydropower across 15 central and western states.

Basin Electric Power Cooperative is a not-for-profit generator and transmission cooperative serving three million customers in nine states. WMPA purchases 88% of our power from Basin Electric.

Note: These percentages are estimated because BASIN operates on a calendar year, while WMPA operates on a fiscal year.
